Fulham v Sheffield United Match Preview
Live coverage on Sky Sports at 8pm, Saturday 20th February
- Sheffield United have lost all-but-two of their last fourteen away matches
- The Blades have been at the foot of the league table for most of the season
- Twelve of Fulham’s last fourteen league matches have each produced under 2.5 goals
Both Fulham and Sheffield United have shown real signs of improvement in recent weeks, however it had done little to improve their league standings with both sides still in the relegation zone. The Blades have registered three league wins since the middle of January, however their form away from Bramall Lane has been generally abysmal with their twelve away games this term returning ten defeats.
Tough nut to crack
Fulham are also in the relegation zone although their situation is far more salvageable with just six points separating Scott Parker’s men from 17th-placed Newcastle United. The Cottagers have proven themselves to be a tough nut to crack with just three defeats from their last thirteen in the Premier League and United will be hard-pushed to find a way through a stubborn home defence this weekend.
In fairness, while both teams are very much in the danger zone, Fulham’s position is far less dire than Sheffield United who are huge odds-on to drop into the Championship at the end of the season. The Blades’ away form has been truly awful and given that the Cottagers are far more likely to stay in the Premier League by virtue of their solid defence, we’ll be backing the hosts at odds-against to edge past Sheffield United at Craven Cottage on Saturday evening.
